I have no idea why they gave such large stitch markers with tiny needles because I would have ladders all over the place if I used these extremely wide stitch markers with size Ohm yarn I've used with tiny needles turn. But I didn't buy it for markers. If you just hand tighten things, the pins will come out over time. Look, the only problem I see is when the thread slips into the slot and catches on the threaded screw, causing a big mess and unnecessary sharpening. The solution is to not manually tighten things. ChiaoGoo offers T-pins and a cute little heart-shaped handy thing for a reason. Since I've been using a chain heart (I've used T-Pins before) I haven't had to unscrew the needles. Wow! Learn from my mistake and don't look for shortcuts here. Use the core to get a good grip on the needle so you can make a strong connection that won't break mid-knit. Mini cables are smaller than the small ChiaoGoo cables. They are not interchangeable. Photo provided for comparison. I've always preferred wooden needles because they're much warmer and more comfortable than metal needles, but unfortunately small wooden needles tend to break. I was pleasantly surprised that these stainless steel needles are not cold. These are now my favorite needles. Based on what I've read in other reviews, the first thing I did when I opened the box was to check all the cables and needle tips to make sure there weren't any manufacturing defects and that everything was connected properly. My set is perfect and I couldn't be happier with it.
