My machine has a slip-on spool, so when attaching the strip care can be taken not to stick it to the spool cover. When it's flat, it looks too tight. BUT the point is that once the seam is ironed and you put the pieces of the quilt together, you will have perfect points. This thing takes into account the thickness of the fabric and the thread that sews it together.
