Review on 🌬️ Smart Yellow Jacket ABM 100 Anemometer by Tom Goodlow

Waste of money, very unpleasant experience.

I've had no luck with this gauge. I've tried this on 4 different phones with both Android and Apple devices and they all eventually dropped to zero when averaging the readings, rendering the readings completely unusable! I called the ABB factory and spoke to Kane, he recommended cleaning the phone jack which I did on 2 phones and if that didn't work then it was faulty and sent it back for a replacement. The seller said he compared mine to a new one and couldn't find anything but sent a new one anyway. The new one worked just like the previous one, which was confirmed by my Galaxy S3 phone and another Android I hadn't tried yet, my son's Galaxy S5. I also deleted the app along with the cache and installed a new app 3 times. Another issue I had was that when measuring airflow, the fpm jumped from 180 fpm to 450 fpm and then to 280 fpm. Having some experience with commercial air balancing using other gauges and hoods, I decided to make a hood out of cardboard with a 24 x 24 base and tapered to a 12 x 12 opening to have exactly 1 cubic foot of air, and even with the exact square footage were everywhere. Incidentally, the only way to get accurate readings with an impeller is to use a fume hood. Having the manufacturer's AK factor is good, but you can still be wrong by a wide margin unless you cover nearly every inch of register in the exact time to get a near-perfect average. I will say that the software aspect of AAB is very user friendly and I wanted the device to work as advertised.

Cons
