Great monitor for the price

I recently decided to upgrade to a 144Hz monitor and went for it. Here are my impressions after a few weeks of use. A few notes: This is my first time using a VA panel as well as a 144Hz panel and a curved screen. Colors: They look good. Compared to my old monitor (LG 27uk650), my friend and I preferred the LG for the richer colors, while the AOC has deeper blacks. When they're not next to each other it's not that noticeable and videos and pictures look very nice. Brightness: This was a big issue that was repeatedly raised about not being bright enough. For me it works well at 50 contrast and 90 brightness in a room with a large window. On my old monitor I would leave about 50% brightness. Text: This is my biggest complaint and I'm not sure if it's related to the resolution or the VA panels, but the text is a little less crisp. The letters aren't as sharp as on an old 4k monitor, but that's no big deal. It looks like something other than a lower pixel density. Refresh Rate: I don't think I can go back to 60Hz. Just using Windows makes everything much smoother and makes work much better and more enjoyable to look at. Everything looked much better in game since I mainly play in the rocket league. The game almost felt slower and the action was easier to follow. Curve: I'm undecided as I've never used a curved screen before, but it's interesting. If I grab another one of those monitors, it's a cool dual monitor setup. Video: Watching the same video on my old 4k IPS monitor next to this new one, there was hardly any noticeable difference in quality, just the slight difference in brightness that I mentioned in the Colors section. Other things about the screen: It worked great and was easy to set up. I don't currently use the stand but I found it sturdy and has a lot of adjustment options. Also, the red bar at the bottom isn't what I want, but I don't notice it when using the monitor. Price: I bought it for less than $250 after tax and I think it's the best part of the monitor. Many monitors with these specs cost more than this one these days, so I'm glad I went with this one. In general I am very happy with them. I always thought I needed 4k and would prefer it to a high refresh rate, I think I've switched to 144hz.
