This printable clear vinyl sticker for laser printer represented an intriguing opportunity for me. My not-for-profit Rotary club was in a quandary over spending $109 to have a revised location roadside sign custom-painted.When this clear vinyl sticker material became available, I immediately ordered it to see if it could do the job. After taking the old white sign off the post, I removed the old lettering, scrubbed the metal clean, spray-painted it matte white and then baked the white enamel to make it more durable.While the paint was drying, I laid out the sign lettering on my word processor. Since the sign was eighteen inches wide, I needed to create the lettering on two 8 1/2 X 11 sheets of this vinyl material. It was gratifying to see how smoothly the print from my color laser printer adhered to this material.After the white spray paint was fully dried and baked, I carefully peeled each laser-printed sheet of this self-adhesive clear vinyl from its backing and applied it to the metal sign. The two sheets went on smoothly without wrinkles or bubbles, overlapping slightly in the middle. Using a sharp blade I trimmed the excess vinyl. The sign you see with the blue lettering was the result.Since this material is waterproof and appears to have very good adhesion to the smooth painted metal surface, this sign should have a good life while exposed to the outdoors. Making a professional-looking roadside sign is obviously not the only application for this material. Use your imagination for how you can use this material for your own project. I'll be using this vinyl for other projects and am impressed with its properties.
