UPDATE 11/07/2016 Still LOVE and highly recommend. I just bought another one, stock offers for less than $10! I need 3 for my hair, I have thin hair but there are a lot of them and they are long, almost mid-back. I don't know why people are complaining about the holders, if they start slipping, just place the holder on the side of the bar instead of the top center like it should, or go to your local pharmacy and stock up Set of holders. the same but smaller and they're not as expensive as $5-6 for 5, they last even better and mine is purple. I had several holders from another set of hot rollers with regular sized curlers that I use. If, like me, you use styling tools most of the time, you should get a protectant for your hair that isn't greasy, oily, or heavy. CVS has a leave-in heat protectant, but it doesn't weigh hair down and you only need a little from ears to hair. Incredible abundance! BARREL LIFT IN ROOT! I also use the following for best results (I was a hairdresser for 15 years and then graduated from college): 1. STOP buying expensive shampoo, you don't need it, I just use a good clean shampoo WITH NO oils or harsh detergents. YOU DO NOT NEED any special shampoo no matter what the hair is as foam removes these ingredients and that is what you want, clean hair or it will go flat. Just get one that isn't spicy. I use Garneir or other drugstore brands that are designed for normal hair and don't contain harsh detergents. Washing with coated shampoos will not give you fullness as your hair will be weighed down and not very clean. Also, DO NOT use shampoo and conditioner in the same or reverse order, it's a gimmick. The $5-$7 price range is more than reasonable for a great shampoo. Invest in good conditioners and styling products. SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE! I use an argan oil based conditioner as I really like the shine, olive oil works great too. Apply extra virgin olive oil to damp hair once a month, section for at least an hour, then rinse. You will have some left over so I do this in the evening after dinner when I'm not going anywhere and the next day when you shower again, wash again and condition and style as usual. I use Peter Copolla Argan Oil Conditioner, you can get a huge bottle for about $15 at CVS if they have it. I'm also a big Redken fan, but they're expensive. DO NOT condition your scalp, your hair is new there and applying conditioner will only weigh your hair down and lie flat on your scalp, condition from ears down and rinse really well after about 5 minutes. For short hair, use everything but little.3. STYLE HELP! Spend your money wisely, but buy what works for YOU and stick with it. What suits me is Bumble and Bumble "Styling Lotion" which is really expensive but I like that you can't feel anything in the hair and it looks like water. I like my hair to be grippy and silky, but thick and not helmet-like, so I don't use hairspray unless I'm doing a special evening hairstyle or French twist. Even then I use a very light spray. After towel drying, add Bumble and Bumble or other styling lotion, but feel free to use whatever you like. I don't like mousses etc as they make the hair crispy and flat again and it looks like cheap doll hair. Blow dry by simply turning the head down and finger combing through to add volume, or allow to air dry. THERMAL BILGS. USE ROOT SPRAY ONLY IN ROOTS, I use what suits my budget, not mousse, but you can use what suits you. There is a difference between root lift and mousse, there are some root canals that are like foam but make sure the nozzle is small and apply the product accurately to the root only as foams are sticky. Spray on roots only for more control and volume. Take a section of hair, use a root lift, then place a heated curling iron in a section of hair, repeat until done and wait 20 minutes (more if you like). Remove the curlers and comb through with your fingers or tongs. You can also use a brush if you just want the full look without the wave. BUY "Big Sexy Hair Get Layered". This is the KEY! I love this stuff, you spray it onto a layer of hair when you style it and you get this incredible fullness and it still feels really good. I don't know what it is but I just bought 3 more bottles in case they stop making them. This is great stuff and I hope they don't stop making it the way I just found it. I pay $10 for an 8 ounce bottle of spray. Viola! Beautiful, elastic, thick hair, and it stays that way the next day. MUST HAVE: 1. CLEAN SHAMPOO2. GOOD AIR CONDITIONING3. BUMBLE AND BUMBLE STYLING LOTION or OTHER Bumble and Bumble Styling Lotion (8 oz) 4. GREAT SEXY LAYERED HAIRSPRAY, A MUST HAVE! Sexy Hair Get Layered Flash Dry Thickening Spray, 8 oz. I'm currently using Sally Hershberger Supreme Lift Root Spray, but I'll use others as long as they're not sticky. HEAT STYLING PROTECTOR FOR THE HAIR, WHEN IT IS STRAIGHTENED, IT IS ALREADY STRAIGHTER. If you're straightening right now, so am I, you can still use all of the above methods except for the root lift. As you can imagine, I like shiny, beautiful, bouncy, thick, wavy hair that you can hold. I HATE HAIR IN HELMETS! It looks ridiculous and the hair should move. Otherwise it looks like a damn wig! I also love super shiny straight hair. My hair is fine but I have plenty of it thank goodness! It's also longer than most. I also color my hair with Redken Shades, a vibrant shade of red-orange since I have dark mahogany hair, and then immediately use Paul Mitchel Cellophanes clear color for added shine. You need to use cellophane, dry your hair, and then go to the Xing, your hair looks like diamonds! PROBLEM with CELLOPHAN: There are two clear ones, one is totally clear and the other is cellophane with a blue back, stay away from the blue one, it says on the bottle. You wash your hair, peel off cellophane, cover it with a hat and sit under a hair dryer for 25 minutes, then take off your hat and let it cool for 5 minutes, wash as usual. A dryer must be used, you can get one at AMAZON for about $20. I do this 3-4 times a year. Sebastian Professional Cellophanes, Shine Clear "Pack of 2" by Vidimear TIP: THIS IS A WEEKLY OR MONTHLY MAINTENANCE WITH REALLY GOOD CONDITION THAT MAKES SHINE AND HEALTHY HAIR AND YOUR NUTRITION. Give my hair a nice bounce and a really full look with no frizz. I use all 10 and only use a very large curling iron for the small amount of hair left. I leave it on my hair for 20 minutes and it lasts all day, even the next day it looks good. I also use Bumble and Bumble Styling Lotion which I love as it gives me extra control and doesn't feel like there is anything in my hair at all. Also use the Big and Sexy volumizing spray which I use after the words, it's a dry spray that gives extra volume without feeling like hairspray. Also, since I have fine hair, I use a root iron on my head with curlers to give me that extra appeal. LOVE LOVE LOVE
