A method of applying smoother plastic overlays.

Some reviews say they had horrible streaking issues when applying Satn. Of course, this stuff is much easier to apply to textured plastic, but I found a way to get great results on smooth plastic too. I installed fender flares on my 2010 Toyota Tundra. I chose not to paint them and left them with a matte plastic finish to match the rest of my finish. The only problem was that after the summer sun the plastic didn't look as good in the sun. What led me to this product. When I first applied Satn it dried very quickly on the old plastic. So here's what I did and it worked great! 1) Thoroughly clean the surfaces and use a rag to pick up any residue left on the surface. Smooth clothing is a must! I just used an all purpose cleaner. 2) Apply 3 to 4 wet coats and allow 5 minutes to dry before applying more coats. Small things have a big impact. Therefore, first apply it sparingly to the sponge to feel it. Thoroughly wet the surface without running, move quickly but without missing spots. You can even mask off the area to prevent paint from seeping in and get them out much quicker. No matter how well you did, some streaks will appear. 3) Once you've applied enough layers to make it look even with no "dry spots" you can stop this application method. 4) Now take an application sponge and place 4 or 5 strong drops in different places on the sponge. 5) Take a sponge and swipe it straight up and down, don't drop it on the surface and move it when you pick it up, otherwise it will leave small streaks. Always start by forming small bubbles without streaks. Do this methodically all over the surface. Wait for it to dry and repeat the process if the streaks haven't disappeared. It helped me! I've been doing car repairs since I was a kid and this method seemed to work and I'm happy with the results. Hope this helps someone. This is really a great product. Now we just have to see how long it lasts.
