Well as others have said this is a very good solution for carpet stains. It doesn't take any time at all. This seems to save me the hassle of a regular professional carpet cleaning in my office, so it would be worth four times as much to me. I use it on very short looped carpet tiles, so the cleaning effort is very small. But there's nothing wrong with the pole: it's a metal extension pole with a friction lock. I think people have trouble with this because they don't push the pole very far and push down to drive the bristles into the carpet: it doesn't need to. Extending the bar makes the angle to the ground smaller and you don't have to push down: just move it back and forth. Also, you can still use any broom handle or extension cord available at Home Depot (or you already have other brooms/mops), so it's silly to criticize a pole for something this good.
