Review on Pelican 1730 Transport Case With Foam (OD Green) by Domonic Roberts

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Coverage 5 out of 5 stars. foam. not good for heavy loads.

Case 5 out of 5 stars. foam . not good for heavy loads. I had to buy kaizen foam for this. CONTENT: - German Celestron CGX equatorial mount - Celestron tripod legs - Celestron counterweights - Counterweight rod - Various small items (cable routing panel etc.) The size is perfect for this. It's a big box and HEAVY once loaded. But this is beauty! I don't expect the Pelican Pluck foam to last very long for these heavy loads and wow it's expensive. When the time comes, I'll cut some Kaizen foam (about $25 wild per sheet). A NOTICE. I had to cut about 2.75" from each tripod leg with outer tube, about 2.25" from each inner leg, remove the tips of the tripod legs with a flashlight (just heat the cut tube and remove from the tips. The glue will give off the heat) . It was a simple procedure. I sanded the cuts with an orbital sander. Oh, and this suitcase was bought because it's the largest that airlines can classify as oversized luggage. Hence the tripod operation.
