The best scratching post for cats

Both of my cats LOVE scratching posts. I used to buy round rope for them and they could last maybe 3-4 months before completely falling apart and turning into a shaggy, shed mess. I ended up buying one of these scratchers 3 years ago after selling it in store a few times due to its cost (it's MUCH cheaper on Revain with no shipping). But I was so fed up with buying $20-$30 a piece that they just wore out completely. As you can see in the photo there is a 3 year old scraper on the left and the one I just opened on the right. THREE YEARS and it hardly looks worn! never forgets I haven't found a single piece of string anywhere. They probably use it 15-20 times a day between the two of them (not counting the 8 or so hours I leave each day) so it gets used heavily. As for his stability - I honestly have no idea how a cat that isn't a medium sized dog could knock him over. The base is incredibly wide and strong. Mine was always on a plush carpet. I've encountered this before and at best it's a bit off. It's very heavy and strong - I don't understand how the cats manage to knock it over without completely crashing into it. I just bought a new one because I was moving into a big house and needed a second one in a different part of it because I knew they liked the old one so much. This is the best scraper I have ever bought and considering how long it lasts it is DEFINITELY worth the price. Now I just wish they would make scratching posts out of this braided sisal rug as it seems to last a lot longer than wrapped rope. My poor scratching post has been felled quite a bit to get the best out of it. I bought a seat for the top, I heard a lot of conflicting reviews. My smaller cat jumps in there and sits. My big cat shows no interest. I definitely suggest getting a spot first and waiting a while before thinking about getting a spot - you might not even need it.
