I would not recommend this hotspot. It has some limitations and very annoying bug on IOS devices. A sporadic bug with IOS devices is that when an IOS device roams from one AP to another AP with the same SSID (i.e. switches between APs), it sometimes fails to connect to the new AP. Sometimes it simply disconnects the Wi-Fi connection (so your iPhone in your pocket is no longer on the Wi-Fi network). Sometimes when you unlock your iPhone, it reconnects to the nearest hotspot, and sometimes you have to go to settings and select an SSID (after which it reconnects immediately). With this behavior, the access point seems to have a bug that refuses iOS devices when roaming under certain circumstances. According to the support forums, this bug has been around since at least mid-2017 and Linksys hasn't fixed it yet. Please note that I migrated from Apple Express hotspots to these Linksys hotspots and haven't had any roaming issues with Apple Express devices. The limitation I found is that the device does not support fast 802.11r transition between two Wi-Fi bands (2.4GHz and 5GHz) if you share the same SSID between them. The device treats the same SSID on two bands as two different SSIDs and does not allow 802.11r between these SSIDs. Other than that, it's a good access point with some good features (price aside!). But until the IOS bug is fixed, stay away from this AP (and possibly other Linksys APs) if you plan on getting more than one and switching between them. UPDATE: I found a workaround - if you don't manage all access points. in a cluster, then iOS handover between access points works fine. Unfortunately, this means you'll have to make changes to ALL access points instead of having a single management console for them, but you don't usually have to fiddle with it too much (at least in a home environment. In a work environment, forget that!). You still have the problem of not being able to use fast 802.11r roaming if you are using an SSID that spans two bands. Linksys support called me, but after two calls from a Tier 1 support rep, they still haven't contacted a tech. , so don't go anywhere.
