Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Launch CRP129 OBD2 Scanner: Ultimate Scan Tool for Mechanic & Enthusiast - Reset Lights, Read Codes - Red/Black by Tim Thornton

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice looking scanner

This is a great little scanner if you have multiple vehicles or need a scanner that stays up to date for a long time. I'm not sure why this scanner has some negative reviews. Unfortunately, all reviews from multiple sellers are combined into one product. I suspect some buyers were burned by people selling used and/or counterfeit goods. I bought mine through Leoglobal and had no trouble registering it or installing updates. The Launch CRP129 scanner is very easy to use and will quickly find and display trouble codes for your vehicle. Once the problem has been diagnosed and fixed, you can clear the code. I've been looking for a 12v power source to connect the unit to and learned the hard way that if you leave the airbag indicator connector unplugged when turning the ignition on, a non-volatile code will be generated in the ECU. This code can only be cleared with a scan tool that supports SRS diagnostics and usually requires a visit to the dealer. I was able to find and clear the code with this scanner in about 5 minutes. It has already paid off. The only reason I'm not giving this scanner 5 stars is that it has few make/model specific features. If you need a scanner for features like ABS bleed or battery registration, you may need a vehicle specific scanner. It is possible that additional features will be added to this scanner in the future with Launch Update Software, but some features are not currently supported. I suggest asking the seller before buying if the device meets all your needs.
