Review on πŸ”Œ Enhanced Power and Precision: Revolutionary Powered Soldering Iron for Perfect Print Finishing by Todd Look

Look for something much better than this.

When it works, it works well. It seems to turn on for about 15 seconds and then turn off for about a minute. It then turns on again for another 15 seconds and then off again for another minute. It seems that the temperature is regulated in this way. When it falls within the right temperature range, it's great for smoothing plastics. The problem is that you only have 10 seconds to do anything. After this time, it begins to cool, and then the tip begins to stick and form threads. I think I read in the description that it has non-stick tips that plastic won't stick to. That's not true, the plastic at least sticks to the tip of the knife. So far this is the only advice I've used. It didn't fit the soldering iron very well and didn't provide a firm contact. I had to press on the sides of the contact socket to get it a little tighter on the knife tip. Like I said, when it works, it works fine, but you only have 10 seconds and then you have to wait another minute for it to heat up again. This is a very labor intensive process. I will look around for a better but functionally similar device. One with adjustable temperature control so it can provide heat all the time. While the USB power adapter is handy, I'd happily trade it for 110 volts if the duty cycle could be longer. I couldn't imagine soldering a connection to this thing, it just doesn't stay hot long enough. Unfortunately, I was in a hurry to place my order, so I didn't bother to read the reviews. If I had read the reviews I would not have ordered. Luckily it's pretty cheap so I'm not sending it back. I will try to keep using it until I find something better to replace it with. I have absolutely no idea what the metal ball in the pen is for, it seems ridiculous that it's there because it's useless. Also, the type of connector they use to connect to the end of the pin is for audio devices. If you insert it into the pen while the other end is connected to a power source, the plug will momentarily short out when you insert it. It is best to connect the audio jack to the soldering iron handle before connecting the USB jack to a power source. This way you avoid short circuit of the USB power supply. The included power cord is just the right length. I was able to smooth out the roughness in the print.
