Tried it with a boot and it worked fine. On the first one I didn't trim the extra length at the back which made it look a little messy but it closed up nicely. I trimmed too much on the second pair and there was a small gap in the back, but it was a good try for a first time. I used a heat gun remotely. So if you also use a heat gun, be careful not to burn your shoes, don't hold them too close, the plastic will melt quickly and you won't stand a chance of saving your shoes. I think it's safer to use a hair dryer.
