Review on KYY 15.6" Portable Monitor - Full HD 1920X1080P, 60Hz, IPS, Built-In Speakers - K3-1 by Jerry Vasquez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works out of the box with no setup, feels premium, everything is there

Update 7/21/22: Still 5 stars. Works great and is durable. I carry it in a backpack with two PCs (for work and private). The packaging is so good and strong I didn't want to throw it away but I did yesterday. It seemed like I was going to use the box for something, but I resisted the temptation to save and threw it away. Someone mentioned it as "fragile" in a review. I don't have a feeling, but I suppose if you damaged it you might think so. But still 5 stars. The tech still feels magical as video and power can be transferred through this USB-C cable (if you have a video-enabled USB-C port, which you probably don't, unless you have a newer one and better computers, but still great with the included mini HDMI port). ------ I took it out of the box and connected it to my work PC using the USB-C to USB-C connector that came with the monitor. He lived perfectly. Everything - connected with a cable and ready. Settings for monitor extension, screen mirroring, etc. worked just like any second monitor and were very simple (those are your computer settings, not your monitor). There is sound from the built in speaker which might work if you need sound in a pinch but ANY computer or phone speaker is much better (my phone's speakers drown out these monitors). With my old but still fairly modern Acer USB-C laptop which doesn't seem to be the newest and only provides power and doesn't transmit video like my new Dell work laptop. It still works well though, as it uses USB-C for power and the included HDMI-to-mini-HDMI connector. So it only needed 2 cables instead of 1 and it worked great (plug it in right from this second). It's surprising (to me, at least) how well this performs when powered by just a USB-C cable. The display quality seems to be comparable to my desktop's external monitor or any screen on my laptop. It took me a minute to figure out the lid/stand, but it's very easy. It only took a minute to see how they wanted it, but then everything was very easy. I'm hoping the screen will last as I plan on carrying it around in my two computer backpack when I'm not working at home.

Pros
  • 🧲Multifunctional Smart Cover - The smart protective case is made of high quality PU material, can fully protect the screen and prevent scratches. The base of the smart cover has two grooves, you can fold back the screen side of the smart cover, which works as a stand to firmly support the bottom of the screen. You can adjust the portable HDMI monitor to the right viewing angle according to your needs.
Cons
  • Limited contrast setting
