I chose this jacket for my seven year old granddaughter. It's designed for boys, but I don't see much of a difference between this and the same model for girls. Regardless of which gender you buy it for, it's the perfect waterproof jacket for all longer activities in the rain. It is waterproof and has the added feature of retaining enough warmth for the wearer. My granddaughter loves pockets and this jacket has plenty of them, both inside and out. Your child's body covered with this jacket will stay dry. We live in Seattle and can easily test this jacket in the rain. Our granddaughter will wear this jacket when traveling through moderate terrain with her mother. It is also excellent for kite flying in rainy weather. a few days at the beach. This size is a little big for our average 7 year old girl but we knew we would go for it. She will most likely fit into a jacket next spring and this quality garment should last a year or until she outgrows it. This size fits a child aged 8-10 maybe up to 12 years old.
