It's hard to rate this lens in one place. With well-controlled lighting, it produces beautiful images that easily rival and even surpass lenses twice the price. Sharpness and contrast are just great right into the corners. Haven't shot an astro with it yet but all reviews say vignetting and commas are very well controlled and I have no reason to doubt it. Where this lens falters is in the flash. If the sun is anywhere other than the vertical centerline in the frame, you'll get a HORRIBLE flare. And when I say terrible, I mean terrible. Any picture with the sun directly in the frame is simply unacceptable. If you're thinking about using this lens for shooting terrestrial subjects, think again. For most other uses, this is a very good lens if you're paying under $700 for it.
