Great with a little adjustment

The screw had to be adjusted to make the infinity option work. Focusing was a bit wonky with no fix, but there's a YouTube video to help you figure it out. The lens became a favorite after a slight adjustment.

Ideal for architectural photography

The pictures speak for themselves. Great wide angle with razor-sharp focus and rich colors. I hesitated to buy Rokinon. However, this lens is as good if not better than most Canon L-series lenses. Autofocus is not required in architectural photography. Savings will get you better glass and finish.

Aperture control breaks!

Bought 2 years ago. 1 year warranty. The diaphragm is electronic. He collapsed. You try to dial in and the camera shows f2.8 but the lens is set to f22. Move the dial and the aperture changes randomly. stops where he wants. I've used dozens of lenses in my life, from brand new to vintage AF lenses. Never had this problem, don't buy it. Instead, stick with a fully manual 2.8 lens. Unfortunately. Waste of $800!

  • GOLS certificate
Cons
  • The list is getting long.

Great for what it is

This is a MANUAL focus so it's understandable but for what it is it's great! If you want to try your hand at astrophotography, don't wait and just get this lens! Unlike its 2.8 cousin, it has electronic contact, so the aperture is controlled by the camera and all EXIF information is there. I've also used this in daylight for general photography and for still subjects you can get great shots. The camera even confirms focus, which is nice.

quality check.

There were some dry white spots on the lens, you never know what was on the lens cap and lens hood when you opened it. The focus ring is a bit tight and appears a bit choppy. I will test it thoroughly (during the return period) to ensure the premium nature of this glass is worth the price. I will update the review if necessary. Overall, however, the build quality appears solid and we hope it lives up to the hype. The issue of cleanliness postponed a bit, but hope. It's also worth wiping clean…

A tale of two lenses, one great, one terrible

It's hard to rate this lens in one place. With well-controlled lighting, it produces beautiful images that easily rival and even surpass lenses twice the price. Sharpness and contrast are just great right into the corners. Haven't shot an astro with it yet but all reviews say vignetting and commas are very well controlled and I have no reason to doubt it. Where this lens falters is in the flash. If the sun is anywhere other than the vertical centerline in the frame, you'll get a HORRIBLE flare.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No car

Fantastic lens for astrophotography

I use this lens with a 5D Mark IV and it's a great combination for astrophotography. It's manual focus only so you need to know what you're doing, it's not a beginner's lens but it's not difficult to master. The focus ring is smooth. The sharpness is excellent in my opinion. Coma Control is one of the best astro lenses you can buy. My first copy had a decentering issue that is well known with Rokinon lenses and when I called they tried to find a way to disqualify me for a replacement. I…
