Review on πŸš€ Turbosmart TS02231063 Bov Kompact Em Dual Port: Enhance Performance with Dual Port Blow-Off Valve by Martin Dosunmu

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Does its job I think better than OE!

I bought this 2 way valve for my 2012 Audi TT RS 2.5T inline five. The sound it makes is fantastic. It's only really audible under certain circumstances. For example, with low boost pressure, for example, if you lightly press the accelerator pedal with a small load, it makes almost no noise. But as soon as I start pushing about 5psi it becomes audible. When I get to my peak pressure of 18psi, it's very audible. I think it sounds great. It adds to the fun racing car sounds but shouldn't be loud enough to annoy the neighbors. I've noticed that my boost gauge is fluctuating a little more now and my turbo sounds very different at higher revs. I don't think it's a boost leak. I find the opposite, I find this valve works better than the leak/problem prone OEM diverter valve. This allows my pressure gauge to read more accurately and my turbine to run at higher speeds. Let's talk about the answer. The valve is noticeably more responsive than the OEM. The same goes for the fact that you don't hear it at very low gain levels, you only notice it under certain circumstances. Firstly, if you have an automatic or DSG transmission, you may only notice this when you toggle the throttle on/off at higher loads. In manual mode you'll definitely feel it between shifts when driving aggressively as it's a similar scenario. You'll also hear how much faster this valve opens and closes compared to the OEM, especially by the audible flushing noise. Really an improvement. Although it releases some pressure to atmosphere, the speed of this valve still improves throttle response and also eliminates some of the delay between shifts in manual control. There are some downsides, but it mostly depends on who you are as a driver. Person. In the case of VW/Audi wastegates, and perhaps some others, they often reset at seemingly random times. This is done to reduce the additional boost pressure. This is because you only accelerate slightly when accelerating and let go to even out your pace. The OEM switch programming in the ECU tells the bypass valve to open and stay open for about 1-3 seconds to relieve excess pressure. With such a valve you hear it more accentuated as it has a release of atmosphere. But it's also a bit quieter, since you don't usually use that much pressure in scenarios like this. I personally don't find it tiring, but some do. The only other downside is the complexity of the installation. It doesn't conflict with Turbosmart, it depends more on the design of your vehicle. I really should have had several hinge bushings to make installation easier. I recommend installing VW/Audi. I have done my fault but without. The instructions also say to mount it in a specific orientation, but that was physically impossible given the way the valve is oriented (three mounting holes, one slightly offset in a perfect triangle). Turbosmart electrical connector and my OEM DV connector. Overall, the boost seems to be holding up better. Significantly improved throttle response and turbo start/lag times. It made my car feel faster, probably due to better pressure retention. Sounds fantastic, not intrusive in my opinion. I think this is a great purchase. My final recommendation is to apply a small, thin coat of clean engine oil to the o-rings during installation. This is not required but will help extend the life of the rubber o-rings and protect them during installation.

Pros
  • Sturdy finish
Cons
  • Not the best
