I have never used a cat litter mat but most seemed overpriced. A cat is very dirty when, even in a box with high walls, it digs through the garbage and jumps out, splattering garbage everywhere. It worked for me when I used specially cut cardboard boxes to hold the litter box and put a mat underneath and at the entrance. I sit in a small chair and can brush it off the mat with a hand broom and dustpan. Of course some dirt gets into their paws and gets chased elsewhere but if I didn't have a mat the sand under my feet near the box would be a lot worse and more work. This mat will probably work as well or better than the more expensive ones. Maybe I'll get more in the future. This particular mat is a great help against litter spills and is easy on your wallet compared to other brands and you have a choice of 3 sizes for your convenience. I recommend this because it works well for what is advertised and at a lower price point than most.
