Every 3-4 years I changed the well pump switch. It's quite long, but I always heard a loud click when the switch under the kitchen floor was flicked. When switching on and off, the arrow on the pressure gauge fluttered and jumped. After this addition, the gauge will now rise and fall evenly as it no longer receives the full force of the pump suddenly turning on or off. I no longer hear the loud click of the switch when I'm in the house. It appears to be a soft buffer that reduces the side effects of a powerful pump without altering the function of other components in the water system.
