At first I thought that using a 12 inch log house cutting tool would make the blocks too large and visually unattractive. I felt an 8" or 10" block would be better. Then I found out my overflowing mountain of red, white, and blue patriotic scraps and yards that needed to be cut and sewn into charity blankets for wounded soldiers and got to work. My precious stash has dwindled a bit after a few weeks of sewing 12 inch blocks. The tool is a great way to use orphan jelly roll strips. The only downside of the cutting tool is the high price. I also have trouble deciphering the cutting tool markings when cutting some multicolored heavy duty fabrics.
