Description of ๐Ÿงต Creative Grids Quilting Template for Stunning Finished Sewing Results

The Log Cabin Trim Tool Two Template features exclusive markings to create perfect 6 or 12 inch finished Log Cabin; Half Log Cabin; or Courthouse Steps blocks. After adding each round of โ€œlogsโ€, place the appropriate centering square on the ruler over the finished center square and trim. Since each round is squared up before the next set of logs are added, the results are spectacular. The cutting requirements for the center square and the strips are printed right on the ruler. The template comes with fully illustrated step by step instructions or scan the QR Code printed on the template to view a video demonstration. The ruler slides easily over the fabric until pressure is applied. Then, our exclusive gripper holds the fabric in place while cutting, eliminating slipping and miss-cuts!.

I want to love it, but

I want to love it, but no matter how hard I try, I absolutely cannot sew it perfectly to match the first block. I double check to make sure it's a perfect 3 1/2 inch square and then mark a 1/4 inch seam all the way around. I iron and even cut after sewing on each log. I did 5 tries and now I need to take a break, any suggestions how to get the perfect first block?

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Long delivery time

This or that?

I thought making wooden blocks was the best way to reduce my stash and scraps of fabric. I looked at the striped lines from Marti Michell and Quilt in a Day and settled on the Creative Grids square ruler. While the Creative Grids videos show how easy it is to take a straight cut piece of fabric, I've found that the best way for me to use a ruler is to cut the strips to the right size, a Sew a circle and cut with a ruler. Choosing fabric is the hardest step for me so choosing fabric and cuttingโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Heavy Duty Finish
Cons
  • Damaged

At first I thought that using a 12 inch log house cutting tool would make the blocks too large and visually unattractive. I felt an 8" or 10" block would be better. Then I found out my overflowing mountain of red, white, and blue patriotic scraps and yards that needed to be cut and sewn into charity blankets for wounded soldiers and got to work. My precious stash has dwindled a bit after a few weeks of sewing 12 inch blocks. The tool is a great way to use orphan jelly roll strips. The onlyโ€ฆ
