I bought this lens to use with my D80 and new D300. I mainly photograph landscapes in nature, nature and events. The 10.5 fisheye lens is fantastic, sharp and gives you a perspective like no other lens you have. I shoot with my 12-24 and 18-200, but now I shoot at 10.5 when I really want to see a bigger perspective. Come closer. It focuses at about 6 inches, so get close and change the angle for a better composition. It's really good for a beautiful sunset with far reaching clouds. The secret is to use Nikon Capture NX as post-processing to automatically correct the fisheye effect so it looks like a super duper wide angle. Then upload the file to Photoshop or whatever you use. Depending on the subject and your position, you don't always have to fixate the fisheye because it makes very interesting shots. For example, I don't correct the perspective in Capture NX when taking a close-up of a flower because it looks great without it. LOVE this lens. If you usually just walk around with a 'regular' lens on your camera and take snapshots, this is not your lens. The lens comes with a deep cover. There are no threads for filters and a screw cap. The lens cap simply snaps into place and stays in place. The size of the lens is very similar to a 50mm f1.8 lens, making it small enough to slip into your pocket and carry around when needed. You will find that you see things differently once you have this lens. For example, I take my camera on camping trips (where I logged over 1,000 GPS miles in 2007) and now find many more things to photograph that require a wider angle than my favorite 12-24 zoom.
