I ordered a size my child wears in dress sizes and it just fits my 5 year old. Probably mostly in the way it hugs the torso, it just fits and it's not particularly thick at all. As he's kinda perfect for him now instead of being big and then living another year it's fine and he'll still work for us for him and then for subsequent children. I would say order at least one size up to plan ahead. If you are the right size this is a really great deal. The quality, design, thickness and construction are exactly the same as any other mall fleece you can get. He loves the blue lapis lazuli color - I would say it's a good shade for a unisex jacket that suits both boys and girls and would make a good outfit later on. There are pockets. He is very soft. Overall I would recommend it.
