Works fine but I think Nissan changed a bit under the hood for 2014

I have a 2014 frontier and I bought it to see if I could improve the gas mileage. I consistently get 22.5mpg or better on the freeway. However, it's easy to stomp and has terrible gas mileage because the throttle is more sensitive and the engine loves to rev with it. It took me about 45 minutes to install. It would have been faster, but it seems like Nissan added a larger throttle body to the 2014 model and also some airbox brackets, so I had to reuse parts from the stock airbox to get it to fit properly. My only real complaint about the device itself is that it flexes too much. On bumps, the cone filter touches the frame mount behind the headlight, leaving a small dent on it. I've tried reconfiguring the configuration to prevent this from happening, but he really likes being where he is so I'll just have to take care of it. I can make a bracket to attach to the bracket on top of the engine that the factory airbox attaches to so it can't flex towards the bracket and push the filter in. In my opinion KN should have done this during the molding process so I didn't have to use zip ties to attach the mounting bracket to the device as their silicone zip ties offer flexibility. Difference. Also, you can hear air leaks above 2500 rpm, and it sounds like a big turbo.

Pros
  • Practical thing
Cons
  • It's ok
