I bought these because several websites recommended them for people who need arch support. In fact, they have adequate arch support and are very comfortable. I've been wearing them every day for at least two months. Only the shock-absorbing rib around the foot opening is starting to wear out on one of the two. I predict they'll be shot in two more months. The soles are thick, durable, wide (like Kramer's shoes in the episode where Mel Tommy thinks he's a retarder) and show no signs of wear. Unfortunately the shoes are black so I can't wear them on my beige carpet as they leave streaks.
