So while searching for straws here a while ago I came across vendors who sell paper straws, one of which very convincingly described the toxicity of plastic straws in the product description. Despite all my environmental efforts, I never thought about how many billions of straws end up in the trash every day. That's literally several billion a day. No wonder plastic straws are the second most common item polluting our oceans. Not to mention that plastic is still toxic to the body. So while waxing everything healthy and eco-friendly, I've decided to use paper straws. Call me picky but damn I couldn't stand the taste of paper and the wood pulp taste almost killed my water habit so I looked for an alternative and found these beauties. In a nutshell, they are PERFECT. I use one in my super cold RTIC mug and it just fits in the opening of the lid. Needless to say the water tastes like good ol' water not cardboard so I'm happy I'm helping save the world and I'm doing my body good so it's a win win win. They are very sturdy, perfect size, great flow, look cool and the included cleaning brush is much appreciated, although I mainly use it for water, a simple rinse after use keeps it clean. I really like that they're transparent though, because that's my problem with the stainless steel types: you can't see if hidden mold can form (gross), but with them you always know they're clean. The Revain packaging was a mess - the box was crushed, the straws were dangling inside (Revain sent them along with the much heavier item I ordered with no protective packaging inside - not the seller's fault, Revain did the packaging themselves ) - as a testament to their durability, they arrived with no cracks, chips, nothing broken so they're really solid. So I'm completely happy with them and have two of them at home and two in the office. They appear to last a lifetime with proper care so there is now one less person polluting the world with straws and this seems like a great way to solve a pretty serious (and very understated) environmental problem just by clicking on this great product transfers Straw issue - - FIXED.
