Very inexpensive adapter, well made and indispensable for Micro 4/3 shooters.

I am a professional photographer/videographer and needed a speed booster for my professional work with my Panasonic Micro Four Thirds cameras. This is my review of the cheap Commlite EF to MFT accelerator. If you don't want to read the whole review my final conclusion is value for money, I recommend the Speedbooster. Build Quality: This is an all metal build which is great. The adapter fits snugly in all the lenses I've attached to it. I've read in other reviews that the adapter's connection to the camera itself can be slightly loose or slightly misaligned, However, in my testing, there was no movement or shake when connected to my Panasonic cameras. Using photos: It has electronic communication pins, so you get all the lens Exif data, autofocus control and electronic aperture control. I attached a Canon Nifty Fifty 50mm f/1.8 lens and with this adapter the aperture reaches f/1.3! Typically, a 50mm lens attached to a Micro Four Thirds body will provide a 100m field of view. With this adapter, the field of view increases to 71mm instead of 100mm. I was very happy with the results I got from this adapter. I'm no longer bothered by low-light situations because this adapter provides extra light. Photo autofocus works with many lenses, that I tested very well. including Canon 50mm f/1.8, Canon 70-200 f/4 IS and Sigma 17-15mm f/2.8. Yes, the Sigma 17-50mm APSC lens works great with no vignetting. Video usage: So most cameras record in 4k, in crop mode. The G7, for example, has a 2.3x crop. Get closer to the Super35 equivalent with this adapter and increased field of view. When you shoot in 1080p, your field of view is actually WIDE than in Super35. Using this on a GH5, Black Magic 4k or similar camera actually gets you closer to the full field of view of the frame. Pretty good, and in my tests almost as fast as the native Panasonic lenses I own. I usually use single point autofocus for photography and it works great with this adapter. If you use continuous autofocus on video, it's slower and can chase (as is the case with ALL speed boosters, even those that cost $600). Personally, I don't use continuous autofocus as I like to have more control over focus when shooting video like most experienced videographers do. I recommend using push or full manual focus, which works great with this adapter. Image Quality: Compared to a passive adapter, the image you get with this adapter straight out of the camera may be slightly softer when shooting with very little ablation. This applies to all speed boosters, even for much more expensive ones. I just closed the aperture a step or two and got great results. This can also be easily solved in seconds with a little sharpness in the post, be it a photo or a video. With a Sigma 18-35mm lens, starting at around 25mm, I didn't see any real softness with the adapter, so it's possible that the softness is only at very wide angles. Final note: I am very satisfied with this adapter. This allayed any concerns I had about the crop factor and low light ability of micro 4/3 cameras. The adapter features a USB port for firmware updates to increase compatibility with more lenses. The prices are fantastic. I used this adapter on a paid shoot recently and my client was very happy with the product I gave him and in the end THAT is what matters most. I am very happy with this adapter.
