Review on Metra 70-8901 Vehicle Harness for 93-94 Subaru Impreza: A Reliable Wiring Solution by Joe Jordan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Worked perfectly in my 2006 Subaru Forester

So according to Metra this is a must have for any Subaru since 1990 (not just 93-94 Impreza). I installed it on my 2006 Forester (with only one issue NOT related to this wiring harness). So this item worked simply and beautifully and is perfect for installing a Pioneer CD receiver. The hardest part was learning how to disassemble the Subaru dashboard to get out the old radio; I found out how beautiful it is thanks to some YouTube videos (thanks to those who sent them!). The only "trick" I used was to use a plastic knife (from a fast food restaurant) to cut enough "space" between the padded dashboard and the console bezel. Insert a thin screwdriver to loosen the first tab and avoid damaging it. If the old radio fails, simply use the old DIN frame double sides to mount the new one. A dash kit is not required for the 2006 Forester. So knowing how to remove an old radio is all you need. This wiring harness connects to a new radio wiring harness that is colored to match the color of each wire. Metra's colors are clear and obvious. I used Amp Champ to strip wires and crimp 18 gauge butt connectors. Voila. cute and smooth! A dash kit is not required for the 2006 Forester.
