Brilliant - Ease of Use and Convenience

This is one of those little tools/tools that you wish you had years ago. Since all my random orbital sanders use 6 inch hook and loop sandpaper, I usually keep a variety of grits on hand so being able to use the same stock for the sanding block wasn't a problem. I have other sanding blocks that work well, but when changing sandpaper it was often necessary to trim the sandpaper to fit and then fiddle with the block to set the paper properly. All of this takes time and can be frustrating when you need to move the paper to the right or if you find yourself cutting the paper too thin or a little wider than you should. This meant it was often thrown away or added to the pile of discarded, oddly shaped scraps of sandpaper in my drawer (which may or may not have ever been used). Sometimes the paper shifts or peels off as I use it, or falls off once I put a pad down. This grinding mouse solves these problems and more. Ergonomically, this works great - the little finger grooves provide ample grip, and the way the sandpaper disc rolls down the sides at an angle slightly less than a true 90-degree angle allows access into tight corners. I can say with confidence that I will now reach for this sharpening stone and the rest will most likely gather dust in a drawer. I don't do much hand sanding, but if it gets more frequent I'll probably save one or two so I have different grits on hand without having to switch sandpaper back and forth. The only real downside I can think of here is that all the sandpaper discs used on my random orbit sanders have holes while this sander doesn't need those holes. I could see the risk of paper edge snagging, which can shorten the life of the sandpaper, but with my limited use to date, this hasn't been an issue. The only other thing I can think of is that velcro discs are generally more expensive than buying sheets of flat (square) sandpaper. So, over time, using this sanding mouse will become more expensive than using a traditional sanding block. However, based on actual usage time and other benefits (comfort, ease of use, etc.), I think the compromise was more than worth it. Nothing more to say - this little grinding mouse lives up to the hype and deserves the high ratings it has received from reviewers (which are 4.8 stars out of 5 at the time of writing).
