Very portable and small enough to sit on a small table next to furniture. When the device is set, the upper heating element heats up. This is good as the device can be placed on a surface that can be damaged if the bottom element gets hot. (Be sure to keep all objects away from the elements when they are lit.) The unit heats up quietly and silently when the heating elements are fully heated. The heating elements heat up after about 30 seconds and light up fully about 1 minute after turning the dial. If the device tips over, the pressure switch on the bottom will cut off the power supply to the device.
