I have both gel and spray. I prefer gel because I can rub it into the dog's gum line with a cotton swab and I feel it works better. I only use one drop of gel because I have very small dogs and it contains alcohol. I use it once a week after brushing my teeth. i think it works My dog needed a teeth cleaning last year, but I skipped it. The vet was glad that the teeth did not deteriorate this year and there was no inflammation. I have not used any other products. My dog just got his teeth brushed and his teeth are now pearly white. I would like to leave them as is if possible. At night I brush her teeth with chicken flavored toothpaste but I feel like this product adds an extra layer of protection. I wouldn't use it to brush their teeth because then I would have to use more and I'm worried they'll swallow too much alcohol. That's why I use it very little and only once a week. I'm not sure if she likes the taste because I don't give her a choice. Anyway, in her case it doesn't matter; she hates brushing her teeth (I don't give her a choice either), although she likes the taste of toothpaste. She only weighs 6 pounds so I'll just keep her. I really think it's probably not very tasty because it smells like alcohol and our pup doesn't like it. I can taste salmon but I probably won't because it's more expensive.
