Feels and looks like a prize (expensive but worth it!). The outer fabric is soft and somewhat "flowy" - the inside is lined with sherpa, which makes it warm without a sweater in fall, but I don't know how it will be in the cold winter months. Until then, I guess I'll have to update the review. My son is about 8 years old and wears a size 10 - 10/12 which fits well and has room for a sweater. The look and feel of the coat is approved by my picky son. I think I did well with that. UPDATE: So I exchanged it for a new one due to a defect (the sleeve tab came loose and can't be repaired!), AMAZON did a great job of replacing the product with a new one for free. although the price has already gone up! Very happy with replacement and service.
