After less than six months of use, the Brita pitcher started leaking. At first I thought it was because the overflow overflows into the hollow handle and then eventually overflows down. I decided not to fill it that high and focus on keeping the water from flowing near the handle. In fact, the problem has gotten worse. Finally, I inspected the jug and found numerous small scratches (approximately 1/2 inch) on the base that could be the result of a heavy jug hitting a granite countertop after filling. At this point I let the pitcher dry. overnight and then superglued each crack. I then placed the filled jug on a plate to prevent spills. After 24 hours there was no more moisture. It became clear that the problem was small cracks. At this point I started using the jug, but after about a week the glued jug started leaking again. I would recommend Brita to add a cushioning layer to the bottom of their product. I have not abused this pitcher. He should have held out longer.
