I really wanted to like it because it was the perfect shape and size. My previous 10 cup Brita that I had for years was just outdated and the color didn't match my kitchen. Never fully closed so air kept getting in. Then, just with normal use (never put it in the washing machine (hand wash only) and never drop it), the bottom started cracking after about 7 months. Regardless of anything, if water gets into the pen it will leak from day 1, which made no sense in having a pen for water to get in. No water penetrates into the closed handle. The packaging could have been better so I sent it back for free and got another one. Let me start by saying that the water that comes out of the faucet in my house is pretty gross. Sometimes it smells like bleach, sometimes like eggs, but always hard and thick. Making such water palatable is no easy task, but Brita's filter system helps (so far I've changed the filter every two weeks). It may not taste as good as the water I used to bring home, but it's a lot cheaper. If I have any issues with the Brita Marina pitcher, it's not because of its ability to filter water. The filter
