I was hesitant based on the reviews that they are flimsy and cheap but I am happy with this gate. I was afraid to buy baby gates because they look so tasteless. They look very nice and match the style of our house. The true color of the tree in the closeup photo. For some reason it looks dimmer from a distance than it actually is. I liked them because they are easy to raise and lower. I wanted to be able to hide them so the house looks nice when we have company in the house. evenings They are really easy to raise and lower. I used a marker and marked the slot to make it even faster. I've noted previous reviews that said they break easily with too much tension so I fitted the doorway too loosely and then went one step further and they are very secure. So far my 7 month old gets up and pulls on them and they haven't come down. In my opinion they are a good height, we can easily climb over them (5'8" and 5'10"). Yes, and as you can probably see from the photos, I have baseboards and they go well with that. I can't say anything negative about them!
