If you want to have more devices on your desk phone than you have outlets, these splitters give you the option. You have two Y-splitters, so plug one end into a phone jack and pull two out, for example for a phone and an alarm system, or a weather unit and a modem. They're plastic, but not cheap, brittle plastic. and the slings stay in place and won't slip off. The two ends are disconnected from the line, so you can replace the short ones with a long one if needed.
