I was excited when the socket extender arrived and looked forward to using it. I was surprised that it only plugs into one of the outlets. I installed it correctly and found it a bit unstable. When I picked up the box to throw it away, it rattled. Inside I found a small white pillar. I removed the outlet extender from the wall and examined it again. The white bar in my hand detached from the back of the extension. If this stand were present, it would fit properly into the grounding slot of the 2nd outlet, which would make the device more stable. I have emailed the company. They responded by assuring me that they would replace my defective product once the purchase was confirmed. The replacement came quickly and without damage. Regarding the use of the product, I recommend device cables of at least 12 inches if you intend to connect them to USB ports. I have a 6" Apple cable that is too short to use whichever end of the extension I attach the shelf to. Better yet, change the design of the product and place the USB ports in the middle of the device so the cables don't kink as much.
