I wanted to add an SSD drive to my old desktop PC, but I didn't have any free slots to install a 2.5" SSD drive. This prompted me to look at M.2 drives and find this card to install. What I really liked is that you can connect a SATA m.2b drive or a PCIE drive. In my situation I felt more comfortable with a SATA connection knowing I could boot from it. I couldn't say for sure if my motherboard would allow me to boot from a blank PCIE drive. Using this card allowed me to switch to an SSD drive as my primary drive AND left room for potential expansion with a second one Drive if required. Installation was fairly easy and no problem connecting the included SATA cable to the card and the open SATA connector on my motherboard. I am very happy with this purchase.
