For better or for worse

Bought this product (along with Tracer Products TP34000601 Fluorescent Leak Detection Paint - Pack of 6) to diagnose a persistent oil leak on my wife's 2006 Kia Sedona. Although the oil leak wasn't a huge volume, it spread everywhere, making it really difficult to pinpoint the exact source of the leak. For a while I watched with a spotting light and yellow goggles. Initially, the fluorescent areas were difficult to see. However, after turning off the lights in my workshop, it became much easier to see and I was able to pinpoint the source of the leak. Since the original purchase I have used this product many times to diagnose oil leaks on a number of other vehicles owned by friends and family. For better or worse, my home shop has become the place where friends and family want to diagnose an oil leak before they bring it to the shop for the purpose. Of course, the real money saver for the do-it-yourselfer is being willing to do both the repairs and part of the process. My only complaint, albeit a minor one, is the need to keep the car in the dark to adequately see areas where the indicator liquid fluoresces. There are probably more powerful lights out there that eliminate this need, but for the price, turning the light off briefly to see the leak clearly is a trifle.
