Honest game review.

With this review I'll get to the point. If you're a gamer, can run 4k at 60fps and don't want to spend a fortune, this panel is for you. You won't find a better price unless there's a sale. I got this panel for $280 instead of $400. Read this review. Here are the specs in a nutshell: 4K, 60Hz, HDR, Freesync, 5ms GtG, IPS, 98% sRGB color space. You may be wondering how the UL550 compares to the 500, 600 and 650. They all have the same panel. except brightness. Both the 500 and 550 have a brightness of 300 nits, while the 600 and 650 can go up to 400 nits. In truth, the 300 is bright enough, above average, and actually makes more sense. All 4 panels only achieve 300 nits in HDR. HDR400 on the Ul650 doesn't really hit 400 nits, look at the reviews. I have now tested this monitor on an Xbox One X with HDR10, 4k and Freesync enabled. I've played Modern Warfare, Blackout, various RPGs, etc. Responsiveness and input lag are exceptionally low for an IPS. If you have a TN panel you won't feel the difference, but you will notice how much nicer the picture is on it. This is very impressive for an IPS. The color palette is almost 100%, so yes, enough has been said about that. HDR is good, you can see that. For those who say you need 1000 nits to get true HDR, that's true when you're watching a TV that should be viewed from more than 6 feet away. 1000 nits on a monitor right in front of you would squint your eyes. I tested enabling and disabling HDR in various games and came to the conclusion that it should be enabled! If you play in FPS mode, avoid FPS preset. It sets the response speed to 'faster' which is impractical and lowers the image quality. Use the custom feature instead, make sure the game's responsiveness is set to fast, turn on free sync, then enable it on your Xbox/PC. Leave the backlight brightness at 100, the contrast at 60-70 and the sharpness at 40. Don't use super resolution, you don't need it when watching 4k. Have a nice day. Enjoy the monitor, it's fantastic.
