would give it 5 stars because I love mine so much but the truth is the protection is not universal as they claim. I bought a shiny silver and some black ones for my brother. The guards fit my blades (9 2/3", my boot size 6) like a glove with no cutting or adjustment required. I found installation fairly easy and they proved to be very durable and I'm pretty strong on the matter on my blade guards. My only issue with them is that they are too small for people with large skate/blade sizes.The gap was big on my brother's blade too (used my guard in the photo because the black ones were sent back) .This is a size 9 boot with an 11 1/3" blade. Although it still gives the blade a flat running surface, a significant portion of the blade is uncovered. Overall - great product, false hype.. & not suitable for larger sizes. :/* The way to solve this is to order another pair of guards and add a third piece, but paying another $12 for that extra 2 inches to each cap really isn't worth it.
