Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great for the price. The fan is loud.

This is a Chinese projector like all the others, but a little quieter than the more advertised "brands" on Revain. I had a more popular "brand" and returned it because of the noise. The Good: * Enough light, but don't trust the deluxe room. If they wanted to offer an apple-to-apple comparison, they would use "ANSI Lumens". All well-known projector manufacturers use this as a measure of brightness. Lux is pure marketing. I bought this particular projector last fall and it was 5000 lux at the time. This should tell you everything you need to know. The seller just increases the amount a little bit. Our screen is 120 inches. * Native 1080p resolution. This is very true*. The focus doesn't seem to change as the projector warms up. I have seen this problem with other projectors but not with Topvision. Good.* No need to change lamps. This is the main difference between cheaper projectors and all 4x more expensive, well-known projector brands. Cons: * Fan noise. There is fan noise and you will hear it. It is much louder than the more expensive well-known brands of projectors which are 2x more expensive than refurbished and 4x more expensive than new. I used the same android dB meter app and phone to measure fan noise for 3 different projectors. This means the projector can be as little as 15 degrees from the center of the screen. However, any keystone correction on this model will result in top or bottom focusing being less accurate. It's a compromise if you want the sharpest focus. Easily learn to love blurred edges*. Getting the black and color values right was also a challenge. I've never been able to get yellows quite right, and the darkest blacks have never been completely black. Had the same issue with Vankyo but not Optoma. They are very close to correct, they just don't match my reference template. Probably nobody will notice this during a show unless they're busy.* No sleep timer function.* The input used is reset at each start, so we have to select the HDMI input every time.* That's more than a normal projector. That's about 2 times more than similar Epson projectors. However, it is smaller than the industrial projectors used in classrooms.* The remote control is handy but not universal. We use it to turn the projector on and off and select the correct input. That's all. Don't know: * Don't use built-in speakers. We have a sound system for audio.* We only use one HDMI input for video so I have no idea about any other video input. HDMI works with Amazon's basic 15ft cable.* Does it come with a case? It's a soft bag so I think it would be useful to take to a backyard movie night? We are not. After more than 6 months of owning this projector for the price (you should always quote it) I feel this projector has value. I wish they had put Noctua fans in the case to reduce fan noise. I wish the keystone correction was electronic and more than +/- 15 degrees. The projector must be raised approximately 30 cm from the bottom vertical in order to adequately correct analog keystone distortion. Really need another 2ft high stand to place the projector in the vertical center of the screen, eliminating the need for a trapezoid. This should completely fix the blurry edges issue.

Pros
  • Full UHD projector with native 1080P resolution
Cons
  • Exorbitant price
