Le Plume II

Le Plume II by Uchida is a water-based marker that can be used on a variety of surfaces including paper and fabric. I have several different colors and use them to dye to order or hand paint fabrics. The marker has two tips: thin, very small and hard, like a felt-tip pen, and brush, softer and larger, more like a brush. I love that you can choose which tip to work with based on your needs. I also appreciate that unlike other fabric markers from the same company, Le Plume II is odorless. That doesn't mean it's safe to breathe in (always work in a ventilated area), but it does mean the smell won't make you sick all the time. These markers are available in different colors. When I made a test sample of the muslin, English Red came out exactly how I wanted it, a beautiful deep burgundy. However, when I used a marker to paint on a pair of satin doll shoes, the color turned a deep reddish purple after drying. I don't know why the color changed so drastically! Maybe it was a reaction to a chemical in the Atlas? It didn't work for my project but I'm hoping to fix the shoes by repainting them with a cherry red marker. In any case, keep in mind that colors may vary from fabric to fabric. Therefore, whenever possible, always test the fabric you are using. I'm deducting a star for the unfortunate color issue, but otherwise the Le Plume II markers are great. Highly recommended! I don't know why the color changed so drastically! I'm deducting a star for an annoying color issue, but otherwise the Le Plume II markers are great. Highly recommended! Therefore, if possible, always make a test pattern on the fabric used.
