I was wondering if coming out of a house where we always kept a covered pot just outside the top door to the basement would really matter. Since we've been using it, we've noticed significantly less residual odor, which of course won't stop the smell of "fresh" gifts right away. We have two cats, we use the same litter as before and scoop every other day. The first pad was changed after three weeks. With proper care of the bedding, you will definitely notice the difference. I know some people who put it on an open box or wall and say it's not effective. It is designed for a closed shell and designed for the top of the lid. I was worried that the cartridge would stick for a long time or that cats would fiddle with it and open it. As long as it sticks and our violent cats (yes, even in the tray) couldn't knock it over or open it.
