Neat Has Serious Haters

Neat Has Serious Haters or Competitors Give Bad Ratings. I'll tell you my experience with great products when I tried them all. I think ok maybe not all but I tried 3 different models. So. I have been running a paperless office for at least 5 years. We scanned everything and I have a deep knowledge and understanding of these scanners. It all started with the NeatReceipts scanner where we started scanning receipts for tax purposes. Shortly thereafter, we found that the NeatReceipts scanner was slow and switched to NeatDesk. We started using NeatWorks on PC back then and it was a normal process, not the best, but we got through it. Then, a few years later, we switched the entire office to a Mac environment and had to re-license NeatWorks for Mac. It was a relatively easy process. but I wanted to speak to someone at Neat to make sure the data we've entered over the years can be transferred easily. It was at this time that I first encountered Neat's customer service. I wasn't able to get much phone support but was provided with excellent email support. Not ideal as talking to someone on the phone is always more reassuring. Anyway, the Mac version had a bit of a learning curve, but we found NeatWorks for Mac to scan and process much faster than the PC version, so we quickly fell in love with it. Then about a year ago NeatCloud came along and we thought it would be a good idea as it would save us from making backups and worrying about storing them away from the office. NeatCloud actually works pretty well, allowing you to email receipts or any other document you want to keep digital for archiving. So we are VERY happy with it and can't imagine covering all the costs without it. We've also connected a pair of Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500s to NeatCloud over the past year and a half and it works great, but we've found that Fujitsu has been down for ages. Yes they run a little faster than the old NeatWorks but they pretty much died in less than 2 years. So now we're back at Neat and we've found this new NeatConnect. In general I would have preferred a regular scanner just hooked up to a computer with no touch screen etc. But let me tell you it was a refreshing surprise. It works seamlessly with NeatCloud without connecting to a computer, fast and easy. Now I like this idea as I can just batch scan the receipts and then edit them in NeatCloud at my leisure as they are all waiting in the INBOX folder for further processing. I really like it as it's much faster and fits my workflow much better. Now the touchscreen isn't really smartphone quality, but decanting, it doses the job, I need a soft keyboard to email the scan that appears at the bottom of the screen. The screen (like a smartphone) is a bit larger as I find it difficult to type, but again it's doable, not ideal but doses the work. Overall this is a great scanner so far, I hope it outlasts the Fujitsu scanners and that's all I ask. The old NeatWorks has been around for a number of years so as long as it's quality or better I'm happy to camp. I know there are people who are happy with Fujitsu and if you look at the reviews you will find many better reviews on the Fujitsu iX500. I liked these scanners while they worked, but then again I found that they often don't work and not cold. Also, the software that came with Fujitsu was poor when we bought it, there wasn't even a Mac version of the archiving software, I haven't checked if they have developed Mac software since, but we've continued to invest heavily in NeatCloud and the years of scanning that we store there and I'm really not looking forward to moving to anything else. Summary: I love this new NeatConnect scanner, honestly I can't imagine tracking receipts for accounting purposes any other way so it's amazing to me to see people unhappy with it and I can't take these bad reviews as fair justify. Oh one more thing, I run two busy businesses so the data archiving I mentioned is for both business and personal expenses. Hope that helps.
