
I don't usually write reviews. this is the first review i wrote. However, after much hype, I decided to give ChemiPure Elite a try. I have a 50 gallon fresh water tank, nothing special, with a Fluval 406. My water problems were twofold. At first I had very hard water. This isn't necessarily bad for plants, but silicates encourage diatom growth. The fight against "brown algae" is outdated. Second, because of the driftwood I have, the tannins turned the water brown. This is not a problem, but visually disturbing. After about a half (about 24 hours a day) I can't believe how much purer my water is. The tannins are almost gone, although I would expect this carrier to constantly suck them out while the driftwood continues to suck them out. It's too early to tell if my silica/stiffness issue will be resolved, but that's my main goal with this product. We hope that those who want to get rid of tannins will find this product useful. However, please note that this is a patch and not a solution. I'll update this review in about a month and hopefully report that my stiffness has gone down.
