Sturdy, works well, toy siren sounds, great horn, sound system and speakers work great.

GENERAL INFORMATION The control unit appears to be larger than it should be, causing installation problems. I managed to find a place but not where I originally hoped to install the unit. Knobs, switches and knobs feel very sturdy. The wiring is great - easy to wire up if you have a little experience with automotive electrical systems. Backlighting selected mode names is a plus, but the lack of highlighting of other functions/switches is a bit annoying, especially considering how small the volume indicator is on the knob. HORN I bought the device thanks to the beep. Lamphus includes an extra jumper that you can connect to your car's horn circuit, so pressing your car's horn button will turn on the Lamphus horn, which can be quite loud. It's like an electric horn that some police cars use. When the control box is off, the horn function does not work, and when the unit is on, the volume knob adjusts the horn volume, either via jumpers or by pressing the momentary manual switch on the unit. SIRENI switched off the audio signal. The siren works because I don't want or need it. Of course I tried all of this on a dyno and found that the sirens look like toys. The tones get too high and too long - they just don't sound like emergency vehicle sirens. I'm fine - I didn't want her. I disconnected the brown wire behind the instant on/off/instant on switch so now only the horn function works, not the instant siren. In addition, I inserted a screw directly into the front of the device next to the mode selection button so that only radio and standby modes can be selected. UM works great. The volume control, which also turns the device on, controls the volume of the PA, as well as the volume of the horn and siren. Unfortunately, the microphone is permanently attached to the device, making it impossible to easily swap it out or disable it for any reason. But the handheld mic seems solid, the switch works well, and the mic picks up well. There is a very short delay after pressing the PTT button before transmission. RADIO mode There are two white wires that can be used arbitrarily. They can be connected to the audio output of any device such as CB radio, ham radio or iPod etc. and transmitted through the speaker. The volume is controlled solely by the external device (e.g. CB, Ham, iPod) and not by the Lamphus system volume. When radio mode is selected, any signal received on the white wires will be sent at the volume of the device, regardless of the lamphus volume. While operating in this mode, you can use the horn and siren switch, and you can also use PA, which temporarily mutes the input signal. CONTROL 1 and 2 These are the two main switches. You can connect the light bar or any other 12V device using the included wires coming from the main wiring harness. SPEAKER The speaker has a very solid feel and the low profile allows for multiple installation locations. I installed mine between the grill and radiator so it faces forward but was hard to see from the front of the car. A typical cone-shaped speaker would have been mounted in the engine bay or somewhere under the front bumper.
