Review on High-Resolution Touch Screen Acer T272HL Bmjjz HDMI Monitor – 27 Inch WQHD Display by Dan Harriger

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Monitor I want to love

"Plus: Great picture. Very professional finish (all glass front) QHD is great. Cons: Significant ghosting. No Android support for touch. The full glass front (including bezel) gives this monitor a very professional look. The 27-inch QHD picture looks great. Watching videos and playing certain games on this monitor is a real pleasure. Touch response in Windows 8 is fast and accurate. Cons: I originally bought this monitor to use next to my bed with an Android TV box or HDMI adapter. After trying several Android products and none of them worked with Touch, I finally got confirmation from Acer Support that this monitor does not work with Android for Touch. Then I decided to try it as my main monitor in my home office. I connected it to my Mac Mini and was immediately impressed with the quality of iTunes video playback. Then I decided to surf the internet and that's where my experience wore off. The monitor suffers from severe ghosting when scrolling black text on a white background. The effect is noticeable when dragging windows across the desktop and gets worse when scrolling through an application like Google Maps. Poppy. Unfortunately this is not the case. Simply moving the mouse over the desktop creates a 1/4 inch shadow behind the cursor. Surprisingly, the ghosting was almost invisible on some of the games I tried (Elder Scrolls Online, SimCity, Starcraft 2), but immediately noticeable on others (GTA 4, Hearthstone). Despite all this, I still haven't decided if I can live with it. Conclusion: I had a hard time deciding between 3 and 4 stars for this review. The lack of Android and touchscreen support lowers the score by about half a star, and the Halo gives out another 1 or 1.5. If these two issues were addressed, I think this monitor would easily get 5 stars.
